What is Racing League?
Think Formula 1 - but for horse racing. Seven regionally based teams go head-to-head over six thrilling weeks of competition, with Thursday the 14th of August bringing the action to Windsor. Across 42 high-stakes races at top UK racecourses, it’s more than just racing - it’s a showcase of regional pride, strategy, and elite talent. Following Wales & The West’s impressive 2024 victory, all eyes are now on the early Racing League standings.
Each team has the opportunity to gain up to 100 points per race, depending on their placing. The team with the highest amount of points at the end of the competition will be crowned the winners. Over £2m in prize money is up for grabs and is distributed to the owners, trainers, jockeys and yards as per standard BHA distribution.
What happens?
Each team is led by a Team Manager, who is responsible for selecting the lineup for each race. The squad includes a core group of regional trainers, with the option to bring in additional trainers as the competition progresses. Jockeys are also chosen by the Team Manager and remain exclusive to their team throughout the event.
At the helm of each team is a captain - a well-known figure from the industry! The 2024 captains included Group One-winning trainer Jamie Osborne, TV presenter Mick Quinn, and Love Island star Chris Hughes. With personalities like these, expect plenty of friendly rivalry and entertaining banter throughout the competition!
The Windsor leg is your chance to see which team comes out strong in this year's battle for the crown. Racing League at Windsor Racecourse isn’t just about the action on the track — it’s a full day of fun for all ages! With exciting family activities, live entertainment, and thrilling competitive racing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
